🎵 December Sounds

A now familiar drill. Some music. Last drinks and the ramblin' soul of a man. More too, like Bonnie Tyler.

A mix of the warm and cold. So: light tropicalia next to Jewish baroque, Tea in the Sahara next to the the droning main titles track from a Finnish slasher flick. And Mavis Staples, always lovely.

If just one: Ode for the Birthday of Queen Mary. Bouncy and soft as spring. December's passed on anyhow.

If greedy: The Wailin' Jennys version of The Parting Glass ends a night and year with the right level of sorrow and joy. The end and start of something.

Also: Cossack accordion, a handful of Celtic tunes (there's health in Mo Ghile Mear), Lightnin' Hopkins, and a very 90's Radiohead track that I shamefully overlooked. Perhaps you did too.
